    Sheri Middlemas
    Chief Operating Officer

    Sheri L. Middlemas serves as Chief Operating Officer with Bertolino LLP and is responsible for firm business development and strategy. With over 15 years of proven success in operations management, she has a track record of identifying industry trends and shifts to offer valuable insights on opportunities for new growth and expansion.

    Prior to relocating to Austin and joining the Bertolino team, Ms. Middlemas served as director of operations for a nationwide law firm based in Tampa, FL. During her eight-year tenure with the firm in Florida, one of her most impressive achievements was the development and implementation of a root cause remediation control process to identify misalignments between strategy, people, process, and organizational structure, which ultimately reduced operating losses in her department by 75 percent and firm-wide through coordinating solutions with other executives by 67 percent in the first three months of performance. Her hands-on ability to work with stakeholders resulted in various and numerous successful partnerships including the conception, development and implementation of a firm-wide mentor leadership development program. Sheri’s volunteer work includes the Florida Sixth Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program.

    As a former radio personality and talk show host, Sheri considers it fate that landed her in the music capital of the world. When not in the office, she enjoys exploring everything that Austin has to offer including the deep-rooted history, fantastic food, and of course, the diverse music scene.

    London de le Teja
    Accounts Receivable Manager

    London T. de la Teja serves as the Accounts Receivable Manager for Bertolino LLP and is responsible for maintaining client accounts and receivables, setting objectives for the account receivable team, monitoring processing of invoices, and ensuring timely collection of payments. Since joining the firm in 2014, London has used her experience, knowledge and skillset to develop processes that have been integral to the firm’s evolution.

    Ms. de la Teja received her business and mass communication degree at Texas State University, where she formed her strengths in people skills and business-forward attitude. During London’s college career, she worked for the family clothing business, managing several stores and dozens of employees on the island of Kauai, HI. It was at this time that London’s core values and experience blossomed.

    London’s off-time is spent with her family. She is married with a son who is the light of their lives. On the weekends, you can find her chasing the sun and chasing her son.

    Bruce Kingsley
    Client Relations Coordinator

    Bruce Kingsley serves as the Client Relations Coordinator with Bertolino LLP and is responsible for conducting initial client consultations. Mr. Kingsley effectually puts potential new clients on the path to appropriate and competent legal representation by the attorneys here at the firm.

    Bruce graduated magna cum laude from South University with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice in 2018. He also holds a bachelor of science degree in education from St. Lawrence University. In 2004, Bruce enlisted and served as a soldier in the United States Army. After four years as an enlisted soldier, Bruce was accepted to attend Officer Candidate School in 2008. Bruce graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate and was stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas. He deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2008-2009. Bruce was deployed again from 2011-2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Bruce has earned many awards and commendations for his efforts and commitment to the United States Army. After eight years and two successful deployments, Bruce was honorably discharged from the United States Army in March of 2013. He is a proud veteran and is honored to have served his country.

    When Bruce is away from the office, he enjoys being with his family and friends and attending sporting events.

    Marcus Wennrich
    Marketing Coordinator

    Marcus Wennrich serves as the Marketing Coordinator with Bertolino LLP and is responsible for the development and supervision of marketing campaigns, the organization and oversight of websites and social media platforms, and the promotion of Firm activities.

    Mr. Wennrich was born and raised in Germany and immigrated to Texas when he was honorably discharged from the German Air Force, where he was in charge of the tactical status of air defenses systems and measuring equipment valued not less than $50 million.

    With a background in web design, photography, Google and Bing marketing, digital marketing and social media marketing, Marcus has an industrial engineering degree with the IHK Aachen, as well as a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Lubbock Christian University.

    Marcus volunteers with Team Rubicon, a veteran-led volunteer organization. In his off-time, Marcus can be found flying his drone, or traveling, hiking, and camping in national and state parks.

    Penny Smith
    Certified Paralegal

    Penny L. Smith is a certified paralegal with Bertolino LLP and is responsible for providing legal support to all attorneys within the firm. Characteristically, Ms. Smith is diligent, well-motivated, professionally skilled in multitasking and dependable. Additionally, she distinguishes herself as flexible, working well both independently and as a team member, and is committed to excellence and quality.

    Originally from Houston and a 1996 graduate of Crosby High School, Penny decided to go to San Jacinto College North and received her associate of applied science degree in legal assistance in 1999. She has been working in the legal field for 20 years in a variety of practice areas.

    Ms. Smith moved to Austin in 2012, where she continued in the legal field working for the Office of the Attorney General for six years as a legal assistant with the general litigation division. In the fall of 2015, she went back to school at Texas State University and received her bachelor of applied arts in science degree, graduating second in her class magna cum laude. Penny enjoys helping others and hearing happy voices of clients when they can continue working in the career field they chose to make a difference.

    Penny enjoys spending time with her husband and children in her free time. She also enjoys spending time with her mother and father. Penny also enjoys going dancing with her husband of 15 years and relaxing at home.

    Melissa Caffery
    Legal Assistant

    Melissa Caffery serves as a legal assistant and is responsible for providing support to the attorneys through various administrative tasks associated with legal processes. Her strong points include written communication and organization. As part of our mission, Melissa appreciates the value of participating in the firm’s problem-solving ethics and approach to law.

    Joining the firm in October 2019 as a receptionist and office assistant, Ms. Caffery quickly demonstrated the skills necessary for administrative and legal support. Melissa has a legal background, previously interning under Edward Shack, ethics and elections attorney, and completed her associate’s degree in legal studies at American Public University.
