Sheri Middlemas
Chief Operating Officer
Sheri L. Middlemas serves as Chief Operating Officer with Bertolino LLP and is responsible for firm business development and strategy. With over 15 years of proven success in operations management, she has a track record of identifying industry trends and shifts to offer valuable insights on opportunities for new growth and expansion.
Prior to relocating to Austin and joining the Bertolino team, Ms. Middlemas served as director of operations for a nationwide law firm based in Tampa, FL. During her eight-year tenure with the firm in Florida, one of her most impressive achievements was the development and implementation of a root cause remediation control process to identify misalignments between strategy, people, process, and organizational structure, which ultimately reduced operating losses in her department by 75 percent and firm-wide through coordinating solutions with other executives by 67 percent in the first three months of performance. Her hands-on ability to work with stakeholders resulted in various and numerous successful partnerships including the conception, development and implementation of a firm-wide mentor leadership development program. Sheri’s volunteer work includes the Florida Sixth Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program.
As a former radio personality and talk show host, Sheri considers it fate that landed her in the music capital of the world. When not in the office, she enjoys exploring everything that Austin has to offer including the deep-rooted history, fantastic food, and of course, the diverse music scene.

London de le Teja
Accounts Receivable Manager
London T. de la Teja serves as the Accounts Receivable Manager for Bertolino LLP and is responsible for maintaining client accounts and receivables, setting objectives for the account receivable team, monitoring processing of invoices, and ensuring timely collection of payments. Since joining the firm in 2014, London has used her experience, knowledge and skillset to develop processes that have been integral to the firm’s evolution.
Ms. de la Teja received her business and mass communication degree at Texas State University, where she formed her strengths in people skills and business-forward attitude. During London’s college career, she worked for the family clothing business, managing several stores and dozens of employees on the island of Kauai, HI. It was at this time that London’s core values and experience blossomed.
London’s off-time is spent with her family. She is married with a son who is the light of their lives. On the weekends, you can find her chasing the sun and chasing her son.

Penny Smith
Certified Paralegal
Penny L. Smith is a certified paralegal with Bertolino LLP and is responsible for providing legal support to all attorneys within the firm. Characteristically, Ms. Smith is diligent, well-motivated, professionally skilled in multitasking and dependable. Additionally, she distinguishes herself as flexible, working well both independently and as a team member, and is committed to excellence and quality.
Originally from Houston and a 1996 graduate of Crosby High School, Penny decided to go to San Jacinto College North and received her associate of applied science degree in legal assistance in 1999. She has been working in the legal field for 20 years in a variety of practice areas.
Ms. Smith moved to Austin in 2012, where she continued in the legal field working for the Office of the Attorney General for six years as a legal assistant with the general litigation division. In the fall of 2015, she went back to school at Texas State University and received her bachelor of applied arts in science degree, graduating second in her class magna cum laude. Penny enjoys helping others and hearing happy voices of clients when they can continue working in the career field they chose to make a difference.
Penny enjoys spending time with her husband and children in her free time. She also enjoys spending time with her mother and father. Penny also enjoys going dancing with her husband of 15 years and relaxing at home.
Melissa “MJ” Hooper
Certified Paralegal
Melissa “MJ” Hooper is a paralegal with Bertolino LLP and is responsible for providing legal support to all attorneys within the firm. Mrs. Hooper is a reliable employee who takes pride in her work. Additionally, she considers herself versatile while being committed to both individual and team success.
Mrs. Hooper graduated from San Antonio Community College in 2008 with her Associate of Applied Science Degree for the Non-Lawyer Advocacy Option and has been working in the legal field for about 10 years in a variety of practice areas. Ms. Hooper is also a Certified Pharmacy Technician which brings another level of experience/education to her work.
MJ enjoys spending time with her husband, close friends, and family. She also enjoys cooking, traveling, wine tasting, and is an avid reader. She likes being around positive happy individuals. MJ also has 3 fur babies, who she adores and talks about frequently as if they were humans.
Cimone Murphree
Administrative Assistant
Cimone Murphree is an administrative assistant with Bertolino, LLP and is responsible for providing administrative support within the Firm. Ms. Murphree prides herself in providing exceptional service and communication to established and prospective clients.
Prior to joining the Bertolino team, Mrs. Murphree worked in the healthcare industry for nearly a decade. During this time, she worked tenaciously alongside medical professionals as an asset to their team; ensuring timely, consistent, and accurate communication.
As a native Austinite, Cimone enjoys exploring the natural hill country with her husband and two children. When she’s not out enjoying the local music scene, you can find her curled up on the couch watching a movie or bingeing the latest Netflix shows.
