Austin, TX (Law Wire News) January 15, 2014

With men and women across the state of Texas resolving to lose weight or stop smoking or spend more time with family as they prepare for the start of a new year, Austin-based attorney Tony R. Bertolino, senior counsel with Bertolino LLP, wants people to consider adding one more New Year's resolution that will have a lasting impact on the generations to follow. He wants his fellow Texans, regardless of age, health and condition, to pledge to draw up a Last Will and Testament this year.

Bertolino today said there have been multiple surveys which indicate that Americans are not planning for the inevitable, including a study done last year by online legal service Rocket Lawyer and published in USA Today "Times Change Wills, Yet Many Americans Don't Have One," April 30, 2012).  The study showed nearly half of the people in this country have not laid out what they wish to happen after they die. Even the seemingly added impetus of providing for children if something should happen to you does not matter, as half of Americans with kids also do not have a will, according to Yahoo! Finance("Half of Americans with Kids Set to Die Without a Will," May 6, 2012).
